The Somatics of Roots of Addiction

Release addictive behaviors by listening to your body’s wisdom.

$35 USD for lifetime access

We've been taught to believe we're broken.

We tend to see addictive behaviors as self-sabotage. We try to rely on willpower and discipline to abstain from those behaviors. And we feel frustration and shame when it doesn’t work.

But addiction isn't a flaw in character or a lapse in discipline. It's a signpost, pointing to a deeper need for safety and survival that goes beyond mere abstinence.

In this webinar you’ll learn:

  • How your body communicates its need for safety through addictive behaviors.

  • How chronic stress and trauma affect your body and lead to coping mechanisms that manifest as addictions

  • Simple ways to use food as an ally for your body’s sense of balance and safety.

  • How somatic exercises can support your healing journey.

  • Ways to shift the narrative from guilt and shame to understanding and compassion for your body's needs.

  • To honor your body's wisdom over the force of will, seeing it as an ally in recovery.

What is safety?

Safety isn’t just a feeling - it is a biological state within our body. Encountering trauma or stress triggers a primal biological reaction: adrenaline spikes, heart rate increases, and we shift into "fight or flight" mode.

However, healing and recovery demand the exact opposite conditions - a state of calm and connection characterized by a slowing heart rate, deeper breathing, decreased blood pressure, and the release of restorative hormones that encourage rest, repair, and emotional bonding.

Chronic stress and trauma can inhibit our body's ability to return to this state of safety, leading our bodies to seek external sources in an attempt to find balance. This search can manifest as addiction to food, relationships, entertainment, or substances.

During this webinar, we will delve into strategies for tuning into our body's signals, helping it return to a state of balance, rest, and healing.

Whether it's…

  • The cozy feeling from our favorite foods

  • The temporary solace in an alcoholic drink

  • Or the fleeting escape in a puff of smoke

It's not about which substance or behavior—it's the why and the how that holds the key.

Why does our body crave these things? How can we nourish it better, both somatically and nutritionally, to find that safety it seeks?

All these are your body speaking its truth, seeking safety in the only language it knows.

Recognizing this, we can begin a more understanding and holistic healing process—one that integrates somatic practices and nutrition as partners in recovery.

Who is this webinar for?

This webinar is ideal for people at any stage of recovery, as well as those supporting loved ones or working in recovery and healing professions. It's also an insightful resource for anyone interested in understanding the deeper somatic aspects of addictive behaviors.
