What Is Food Therapy?
My first book, Food Therapy, will be published by Hay House in April 2026.
The book explores how nutrition and somatic practices can support trauma and stress recovery, emotional balance, and nervous system regulation.
From cravings to chronic stress to attention and focus, the way we eat is deeply tied to how we feel and function.
Until the book release, I will be offering FREE online Food Therapy sessions to the public for accessibility and curious minds. Join us for the next one on January 13th!

On January 13th, Iāll guide a 60-minute class focused on the connection between weight and trauma.

The connection between weight gain and trauma
Weight gain is highly linked to stored trauma because of the biochemistry that emerges due to excessive levels of adrenaline. The more adrenaline (stress), the more glucose; the more glucose, the more insulin. And insulin means fat storage.
Addressing our weight in a trauma-informed way doesnāt mean abstaining from food, shaming yourself, or cutting calories. It doesnāt mean over-exercising.
What it does mean:
1) Understanding the biology of trauma and how it can cause you to gain weight.
2) Learning which foods transform this and help your body lose weight.
3) Getting in touch with the emotions, memories, and experiences that live inside your body and propel your comfort or binge-eating.
Eating less to lose weight is short-term and rarely sustainable for most people. I teach people how to eat MORE food and to make that food balanced so it contributes to lower insulin and glucose levels. So you can eat more, not gain weight, and actually begin to burn stored fat.
Itās not about cutting calories.
Meet Your Teacher
Luis Mojica
Iām a somatic therapist, nutritionist, educator, fan of beans, and founder of Holistic Life Navigation.
I understand how it feels to be overweight and out of balance with my body. Like many people, I turned to binge-eating as a teen in an attempt to create safety and self-soothe after traumatic childhood events.
Now I teach people around the world how to find safety in their own bodies through somatic practices, nourishing foods, and self-inquiry.
