Finding Safety In Yourself & Others Through The Land
This is a new kind of retreat for us.
You are invited to experience all the elements of Earth through a somatic lens at Broughton Sanctuary with Luis Mojica.
HLN’s work and previous retreats have always been rooted in finding safety within and in community, but this week will also explore feeling the land as a co-regulator, offering connection with earth, water, fire, air, and spirit.
Broughton Sanctuary sits on 3,000 acres currently going through a rewilding process. Their motto for this nature recovery project is “Rewild the Land, Rewild the Spirit.” They have planted over 300,000 new trees to increase biodiversity and restore the area, creating new stories on old land that now buzzes with symbiotic energy and renewal. They also encourage the reconnection of our ‘inner’ and ‘outer’ nature, with offerings that support a deeper connection to self and land. This will be a powerful setting for our retreat.
“I remember a time when I could not feel the land beneath my feet. There was no relationship, just distance and the inability to connect to this living, breathing being that is our planet.
Understanding how important relating to the land can be — whether it’s the land you’re born to or the land you live on — changed how I relate to myself and others, and how I embody the land as a resource.
In Indigenous cultures, many believe we are the land and the land is our bodies. This retreat will be a deep exploration of that through somatic teachings, ceremonies and rituals, outings and adventures, co-regulation and curiosity.” —Luis
Avalon is a state-of-the-art facility at Broughton that will be our indoor sanctuary and learning playground when we aren’t out exploring the land. We will have access to everything pictured below: a second-floor classroom surrounded by trees, co-regulation space with fireplace, swimming pool, hot tub, sauna, steam room, and more.

Imagine outings that ground & delight the body
On our last evening, we will dine together outside in the Cosmic Garden.
Each day there will be activities offered during afternoon free hours but none are mandatory. We invite you to join what you have capacity for.
Take a brown bag lunch on the Odyssey Trail, a guided sensory tour across Broughton’s 3,000-acre rewilding landscape.
Float without purpose in Avalon’s indoor pool and relax in the hot tub after a blissful steam and sauna.
Walk the spiral labyrinth with your morning tea as the sun rises.
Enjoy a lazy afternoon amidst the trees, napping in a tree net, by yourself or with a buddy.
Dive into the tiny lake / wild swimming hole, then make your way through nearby trees to the woodland sauna.
Dance before the flames with your friends in The Fire Temple.
