As a follow up from yesterday's article about Smart Meters, I wanted to write about the various ways we can heal and prevent radiation damage through holistic therapies and a whole food diet. In addition to yesterday's article, I wanted to say that one of the doctors on the panel stated that the radiation from a Smart Meter is equal to the radiation of a Smart Phone. I, personally, find radiation and EMF exposure from Smart Phones to be more toxic and offensive than the radiation from Smart Meters because Smart Meters are not attached to your body or your head. Smart Meters also don't go for a walk in the woods with you, nor do they ride in your car.
I am not for Smart Meters one bit, but I want to raise the awareness that these beloved Smart Phones are being linked to brain cancer, low fertility in, both, men and women and, because men tend to store their phones in their pockets and women in their bras, cancer of the testicles and the breast. The iPhone manual even suggests keeping the phone, at least, 5/8 of an inch away from your body. The World Health Organization has dubbed cellphones to be "possible carcinogens that may cause cancer", yet we're told by the companies to simply "text instead of talk if the consumer wished to reduce the amount of radiation".
I don't have a cell phone and there are many reasons for that choice. I feel like they destroy community, spontaneity, and are extremely toxic to the body on so many developmental, emotional, spiritual, and physical levels but before I accidentally write an article about cell phones let's remember that microwaves, wifi, laptops, and other wireless appliances also contribute low-level radiation to our environments and can leave us vulnerable to radiation damage on a cellular level. Fortunately, as with all other illnesses, nature has equipped us with the perfect foods to heal and protect ourselves from radiation.
All seaweeds contain natural iodine, which can reduce a great amount of radioactive iodine that may be absorbed by the thyroid. Algin, an acid and fiber-like molecule in the cell walls of seaweeds, is extremely helpful in absorbing radiation and removing it from the body. I use Kelp as my seaweed of choice for thyroid issues, radiation protection, and general health.
Essential Fatty Acids
EFAs, like those found in organic flax oil, help to renew cells from radiation burn. They supply a copious amount of vitamin A, omega 3s, and other nutrients that help to increase lubrication in the body and heal the body from burns from the inside out.
This study found that the flavonoid, Rutin, helped build a tolerance in rats exposed to radiation. I do not agree with animal testing, but I do agree with the results. In the body, Rutin acts as an antioxidant and, among many things, increases the strength in our blood vessels scavenges free radicals, and protects us against radiation - most likely by reducing the amount of free radicals, which is a result of radiation. Rutin can be found in buckwheat, citrus fruits, dark berries, and rooibos tea. Of all sources, buckwheat is the highest.
This fiber is largely found in apples and can bind to radioactive residue, as well as heavy metals, and flush them out of the body before they can do any damage to our cells. Carrots, beans, and potatoes are also good sources of this helpful fiber.
Cereal Grasses and Green Grasses
Rice, buckwheat, millet, and other whole grains contain rutin, fibers, antioxidants, and other nutrients that help bind to radioactive residues and pull them out of the body. Green grasses, like wheat and barely, are loaded in chlorophyll and can help reduce radiation burn in our body's tissues and vessels by alkalizing the body, removing free radicals, and reducing inflammation.
Salt and Kelp Baths
Add one pound of sea salt and baking soda to a hot bath and soak for 20 minutes. You can also boil several large peices of kelp on the stove for 15 minutes, let it steep for 30, then add it to a hot bath and soak for 20 minutes with the seaweed in the bath. Make sure to tear the seaweed in the bath and get its gel-like fibers all over your body. Rubbing it in is also helpful. These two types of baths will help pull radiation from the body, detoxify you of heavy metals, and remineralize your blood through open pores.
All of these foods have very specific ways that they target radiation. One added bonus to eating these foods is that they will, most likely, increase your immune system which will allow your own body's detoxification systems to work better and faster at releasing carcinogens, removing free radicals, and eliminating radioactive residues. A diet full of whole grains, legumes, vegetables, and seaweeds seems to be the most effective means of protecting and healing ourselves from radiation damage.
In addition to this, we can all become more mindful of how the technologies we adopt may harm us more than help us. Limiting our use of cell phones, or throwing them away, is a great start! Set a goal to only use the computer for a few hours a week, instead of a few hours a day. Plug it into the wall instead of using wifi. Insist that your electric company keeps the analog meters, and recalls the radioactive Smart Meters. Small changes result in huge outcomes. "Plug" yourself into the Earth more often than into the computer or iPod and you may discover a world far more exciting than the one on the screen. Let the Earth challenge, heal, and excite you!
